Our Resume and the

Serradella Story

When you're going to hire someone, you ask to see their resume, right? You interview them and figure out if they're a good fit. Below is pertinent information on what to expect when working with Serradella and then keep scrolling to learn how we got our start.

People Skills

I am a people person. I love working with clients and their families. Think of me as your crazy aunt. Not the one you hide in the attic, but the one that's hip and cool and you're not embarrassed to be seen with her. The one that takes you for a ride in her convertible and lets you eat ice cream for dinner; the one whose birthday gift you can't wait to open. Instead of cats, I collect stuff. And come hell or high-water, I'm going to make sure you have a GREAT event.

Experience

2020 marks our ninth season. I know better than to claim we've seen it all, but we've sure seen a lot. And each year we've expanded and improved and learned from what we've done previously. You can't sustain a business in a highly competitive industry without being good at what you do.

Quality, Selection, Reputation

We have the largest collection of upscale rental goods in Northern Michigan. In addition, we check over every piece before it leaves the Warehouse and again when we're setting it up. If it's not up to our standards, we'll make it right. Planners repeatedly tell us that when we're a vendor they know a good quality product will show up on time and as promised.

Award-winning Creativity and Style

Hire us to curate your event and we'll knock it out of the park. We love being given freedom to "do our thing" and believe clients who work with us that way get the very best of us. We have an impressive set of skills AND power tools. If there's something you're just dying to have at your event but you can't find it, we can either source it or build it. Over the years, we've built everything from champagne walls to a bar from the front end of a bus.

We know how to stay in our lane

Ever try being everything to everybody? Yeah, it's pretty stressful and rarely achievable. So we focus on what we do best and partner with those who do what they do best. When we get to know you and understand your needs, we have partnerships in place with the best of the best in Northern Michigan and can assemble a Creative Team to handle every aspect of making your Big Day better than you ever dreamed.

Want References?

We are more than happy to put you in touch with past clients to talk about what it's like to work with us. Don't rely on little snippets or one-line testimonials we've reprinted - give them a call and ask whatever you'd like. We're that confident they'll have good things to say.

Before Serradella,

there was Stinky's Fun Junk.

That's right. Stinky's.

This crazy business grew out of indulging my passion for all things vintage.

I’m the consummate treasure hunter and have spent my life hitting the brakes for every estate sale, auction, and good deal I can find. After many years of collecting things for my own use and pleasure,  my husband went from asking “what are you going to do with that?” to “where are you going to put that?” and I knew I needed to do something.

So in 2008 I started on the flea market circuit—hit the road with my trailer and set up at various shows around the state flipping my finds and re-purposed treasures. Then, in 2010, fate led me to a girl who was looking for things for her wedding. She introduced me to sites like Pinterest, Wedding Wire and the Knot. When I learned that vintage connoisseurs like me were incorporating items they loved into their event . . . I was smitten. I transformed Stinky's Fun Junk into Serradella Vintage and started sharing my collection with others. I lay claim to being the first vintage rental company in Michigan.

In 2016, we were finally able to make the move to our "up north" house full-time and I transitioned my business to Northern Michigan, finding a home in East Jordan and working primarily in the Traverse City area. Although my love of vintage has never waned, I am tuned in to the wants and needs of my clients and always have an eye on the latest trends in the industry. The last year, in particular, found me adding pieces to make the collection more eclectic and to appeal to a broader range of tastes. For this reason, we did a minor re-brand and removed the word "vintage" from our name to become simply "Serradella".

So cheers to Serradella and the latest fork in the road!
